Creve Coeur Paving's owners and employees care about the environment. Asphalt can be associated with environmental harm, pollution, and waste. We are an ethical and moral business trying to reverse that perception. Our attitude crosses over into how we manage our company. We've committed to help the environment by altering how we manage different aspects of our company.
Our trucks and equipment use a lot of motor oil. Seventy Five percent of all used motor oil from our company gets recycled at designated centers near our facility. The other twenty five percent gets reused in our own paving processes. Any plastic from oil containers or other products used in maintaining equipment also get deposited at City of St. Peters recycling center . All of our used batteries from household AAA's to industrial sized are also turned in and recycled. Many of our products we use come in cardboard containers which also get sent to the same place our plastic does.
On a more nonconventional side, we dispose of all old or unused asphalt at different material reclaiming facilities to be reused in new asphalt. The old asphalt is used locally by as much as 18% in new blacktop mixes.
We also do not permit drivers to idle trucks for more than 5 minutes to save fuel and reduce emissions. Tire pressures are checked constantly to ensure maximum fuel economy.
Looking towards the future, Creve Coeur Paving plans on purchase of renewable energy to power its facility such as wind turbines and solar panels.
